Fin Ribs

Posted on Updated on

All of the fin ribs are cut and ready to be glued. Fitting each one into the spars was time consuming, lots a sharp angles needing precise fit.

Top right, the large block is where the struts mount and is made from RS-2 and RS-5. The thin ribs are made from RS-17.

Yes, the thin RS-17 does extend into the front spar here.

I have wax paper under the areas that will be glued so I don’t accidentally glue the fin to my workbench. The glue can wait until tomorrow, too tired to mess with that tonight.

Here is what the whole assembly looks like so far.

It looks like the fin is nearly done but it’s not. Need to make the rounded nose ribs and wrap them with plywood. I am expecting that step to be difficult.
