bulkhead
Seat Support
The seat support bulkhead was rather simple to make. Cut the RS-661 to the proper shape and fit it to the fuselage. Almost forgot to drill the two 3/16″ holes for the alieron cable brackets. Glued the two RS-5 pieces to the back of the support and glued it into the fuselage.
Once that was dry I measured the angle of the seat and setup the table saw to rip the RS-8. Then I glued the angle RS-8 to the bulkhead.
The floor boards was cut from RS-674, the opening was cut to match the opening in the seat support bulkhead.
I really want to start varnishing the cockpit area but I have decided to use epoxy varnish which needs ordered. Since the fuel tank is in this area I worry about a fuel leak. Epoxy varnish would not be damaged by fuel so it seems like the best choice.
Prepared to join the fuselage sides.
Put the two fuselage sides on the workbench, up side down, to make sure all the parts fit. After measuring numerous times I am ready to glue them together. I have it temporarily clamped together at the moment.
I glued the rear spar carry through together the other day and put the last coat of varnish on tonight.
The motor mount base is coming along well too. Glued the large wood pieces to one sheet of plywood. Just need to glue the other ply on.
Varnished some areas on the station four bulkhead that will be inaccessible once the rest spar carry through is glued in.
One the varnish is dry on that bulkhead I can start gluing the fuselage together. Hopefully I will have time to do that tomorrow.
More Circles
Started building the station four bulkhead using RS-668. To cut the full circle with the dremel it is necessary to leave a small piece of wood about 180degrees from each other.
If this is omitted the end result will not be a perfect circle.
With a little sawing and sanding it looks like this.
Next I cut the two half circles then cut the connecting lines using my scroll saw.
